I'm just happy we finally have all the Barons in a single shot. That makes my day.

riight.....there´s no way he simply convinced them, bribery just HAD to be involved if they´re not agreeing with you.....btw, while i won´t outrule that the council is corrupt as f#ck, just why would laveau care enough about one newbie to bother paying bribes for her? she´s nothing special after all (that they know of, so far)

It all comes down to Legacy--the number of children, the number of genti (awakened blood relatives), and the number of mortal companions a vampire sustains in their household. A vampire is only as strong as their Legacy and a large one is a sign of prosperity.

Every vampire is connected to the invisible thread of their Legacy. They feel where every member of their Legacy is at any given time and further they can feel their health status. If a member of that Legacy dies, it will do actual damage to the vampire. So, while a large household is very much desired, a tough and resilient child is even more desirable.

Laveaux has no "muscle" in his Legacy. Not a single soldier. The Barons are all young (for Barons). They inherited their positions only 3 years ago, and none of them have a large Legacy yet. Laveaux has more children than the rest but... not worth much if they are susceptible to attack. A child that can think on their feet under pressure and can control their fear is something he desperately needs right now. She may just be a baby now but in 10 years or so she would make a fine Watchman or Tax Collector.

What I love about this scene is that Antwon didn't HAVE to buy every single vote. He could have only bought enough to win. But instead, he wanted to send a message. He wanted to rub it in Kurt's face that he doesn't understand how to play this political game.
